COASTAL areas like Hampshire will receive a multi-million pound boost each year, the Treasury has announced.

A new Coastal Communities Fund will support charities, the environment, education and health. The government says examples could include support for developing renewable energy.

Half the revenue raised by the Crown Estate’s marine activities will be pumped into the fund every year. In April next year there will be £23.7m up for grabs. No details have yet been released on how to apply for cash.
