NEW Gosport ferry Harbour Spirit is being unveiled today.

It has room for 300 passengers and will be put into action later this month.

Harbour Spirit, which was named by Gosport resident David Hurman, will replace the two older ferries Gosport Queen and Portsmouth Queen. Both have been in action since 1966.

Gosport Ferry managing director John Foster said: ‘It’s fantastic to see this new ferry launched.

‘It’s been years in the making and to see her ready to take her first passengers is really exciting.’

The ferry, which was built in Croatia, is being officially launched at the terminal today and will be open to the public tomorrow for guided tours between 10am and 3pm.
