THE St John Ambulance is urging Hampshire businesses to think about health and safety as statistics show an increase in the number of workplace fatalities in the south east in 2010/2011.
The figures, released by the Health and Safety Executive, show that during 2009/2010, 14 people died at work across the region while in 2010/2011 there were 18 fatalities in the workplace.
St John Ambulance has a training centre at Regents Trade Park, Gosport, where employees can do a range of courses including first aid at work.
Regional training manger Ralph Brown said: ‘It is worrying to see that the number of workplace deaths has risen in this region.
‘This should be a stark reminder to all employers not to let health and safety slip down their list of priorities.’
