HEALTHY menu choices have won a hospital an award.

Nuffield Hospital, off Broyle Road, Chichester, is one of the first in the area to win an ‘Eat Out, Eat Well’ award.

The accolade is run by local councils to encourage businesses to provide healthy choices on their menus.

It rewards caterers who increase their use of fruit, vegetables and starchy carbohydrates, while limiting fats, sugar and salt.

It also encourages healthy options for children.

Paul Duhig, director at Nuffield Hospital, said: ‘We are delighted to be the first in the area to win this prestigious award but we are not stopping there.

‘We are always looking to improve upon our standards and achieve the gold standard.

‘Good food is very important in the life of the hospital for both patients and staff.’

Councillor Eileen Lintill, in charge of community services in Chichester, said: ‘The food we eat has a huge impact on our health and well-being.’
