ENERGY suppliers are being called upon by energy regulator Ofgem to explain their prices to customers.

Ofgem has written to the ‘big six’ outlining the failure to talk to consumers on this issue risks undermining public confidence in the energy market.

Recently, wholesale gas and electricity prices have fallen significantly, but this has not been passed on to customers.

Ofgem said gas and electricity makes up just under half of total household bills and urged people to ‘vote with their feet’ and switch to the cheapest supplier. For advice go to goenergyshopping.co.uk.
