A DATE has been set for the opening of Jamie Oliver’s new restaurant in Portsmouth.
The latest in the TV chef’s chain of high street eateries – called Jamie’s Italian – will open in Gunwharf Quays on Monday, May 30.
Located next to the Plaza, owners claim the restaurant will create 120 jobs for local people and remain affordable for customers.
The Portsmouth restaurant will be one of the largest in the chain, with seating for 240 inside and an extra 100 outside on a terrace.
Jamie said: ‘I’m so excited to be bringing Jamie’s Italian to Portsmouth.
‘I just know the local people will take Jamie’s Italian to their hearts because it really is delicious food at a price that will please everyone – businesspeople, students, mums and dads, everyone.
‘The Portsmouth restaurant is one of our largest and we’ve got a great team in place there to make sure we can do the city proud.
‘After all the years of working with suppliers, growers, farmers and then learning from the British public, I wanted to create a local restaurant that is classy, reliable and inspired by what people want – good tasty food.
‘That’s how Jamie’s Italian came about and the great British public have been voting with their feet and making all our restaurants very successful. We’re very thankful for that.’
