A DAY of free training featuring an inspirational talk from a Paralympic coach was held to promote the work of a training centre.

Every year, PETA Training and Consultancy Services opens the doors of its North Harbour Conference and Training Centre.

This year saw the 11th annual PETA Free Course Taster Event welcome more than 100 business people from a variety of sectors for a day of free training and networking enhanced with complimentary business breakfast and lunch.

The event kicked off with special guest speaker Steve Head, one of the most successful motivational speakers in the UK today, having delivered more than 1,500 sessions across Europe.

Steve gave an inspirational talk on how focusing on the positive can impact not just your business but your whole life. Sharing anecdotes from his childhood in Gateshead and from his time coaching Great Britain’s winning Paralympic wheelchair rugby team, Steve raised the roof with his hilarious stories.

His practical advice for increasing performance really hit home and he received a standing ovation for his superb delivery.

Claire Cunningham, HR manager at Jim Stokes Workshop Group, said: ‘The world would be a much better place if everyone took Steve’s advice. He was a captivating speaker and made me feel inspired about our business.’

PETA director Bob Hiskey said: ‘The day is designed to give business people new insights away from their day-to- day business.

‘With over 100 business people attending each year, it is also a great opportunity to make new connections and share learning with your peers.’
