HOMES and businesses are being encouraged to get superfast broadband.

Hampshire County Council is urging people to sign up as part of a national campaign to raise awareness of the benefits that faster internet speeds can bring.

Superfast broadband is already available in 78 per cent of the UK and in Hampshire the programme is funded by the council and its partners.

More than 26,000 extra homes and businesses had the quicker speeds over the past 12 months, in turn boosting the economy.

Council leader Roy Perry said: ‘The roll-out of superfast broadband creates exciting opportunities for us all. Many of the services we use are now done online from the explosion of online shopping to streaming services.

‘Now’s the time for residents and businesses to explore whether they can receive superfast broadband and reap the rewards it can bring.’
