Pharmacy given accreditation for range of services

Rowlands Pharmacy, in Middle Way, Leigh Park has been awarded a Healthy Living Pharmacy status following a rigorous accreditation process.

A grand reopening last month was attended by Havant MP Alan Mak and the Mayor of Havant Leah Turner, who cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Pharmacist manager, Mima Atanasova, 37, has worked at the pharmacy for seven years.

She said she was delighted that the push for healthier lifestyles within the community has been recognised.

‘For us, patients always come first,’ she said.

‘We are informing the public how to live healthily and in general it’s all for our patients’ benefit.’

To earn a Healthy Living accreditation, the pharmacy has been educating and advising patients how to tackle smoking and drinking habits and the importance of sexual health, as well as conducting blood pressure checks.

Mr Mak commended the pharmacy and its staff on their success and contribution to Leigh Park.

He said: ‘Our local pharmacists are doing very well as this award shows.

‘Congratulations to all the staff.

‘This is a special achievement and a big win for the local community.’

Cllr Turner said: ‘We all know sometimes that it is difficult to get doctor’s appointments, so to be able to walk into your local pharmacy and to get so many tests done instantly is really good for everybody.

‘The staff are very friendly and the tests that they offer are of such a wide range that I am sure it will encourage people to come in.’

There are over 500 Rowlands Pharmacies across the country.

Rowlands is the first and only pharmaceutical company to have created a role specifically to encourage and focus on healthy living.
