AIRSPACE users are being warned to stay alert by air traffic control company Nats as a vintage flying sleigh is expected to be travelling at high speeds.
The company, based in Whiteley and Swanwick, issued the tongue-in-cheek warning for Thursday night.
It said: ‘Any UK airspace users expecting to fly this coming Thursday night are being told to be aware of the presence of a vintage flying sleigh travelling at high speed around the country.
‘The sleigh, described as performing “high energy manoeuvres”, will be unable to comply with the normal rules of the air.
‘Air crews are also recommended to be on alert when transiting areas with “high concentrations of chimneys”.
The warning appears on website nats.aero/blog.
The post also warns urges pilots to be careful as ‘erratic flying is expected later in the night due to festive drinking.’
Earlier this month, Nats released a video showing the work that goes into Santa’s flight plan each year. To watch go to nats.aero/blog/
