A ROBOT that is pioneering life-changing surgery at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham is to take centre stage at a business event in Portsmouth.

As reported, the Da Vinci robot enables surgery to take place in a less-invasive way, so trauma to the patient is minimised and recovery times reduced.

The event is a chance to meet the Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and its many members, and is being run at the Lakeside North Harbour Business Park, in the main 1000 Lakeside building’s atrium.

It will take place on Monday, February 10 and is free to attend.

A spokeswoman for the chamber said: ‘This popular event offers you the chance to forge new business contacts, meet up with Chamber members and non-member businesses.

‘We are delighted to announce that the Da Vinci Robot providing pioneering life-changing surgery, one of which is based at QA Hospital, is being flown in from Germany for this event.

‘Hear and see this amazing robot in action being showcased by the clinical director and surgeon.’

The robot permanently based at QA costs £2.4m and can take three-dimensional pictures of the surgical site, putting the surgeon virtually inside the patient.

The event will run from 4pm until 6.30pm and includes refreshments and canapes.

It is open to both members and non-members and booking is not required to attend.
