PLANS for a huge solar farm covering 123 acres go on show this weekend.

Resource Parks Limited is holding two exhibitions on Saturday for people to find out about the plans for about 60,000 panels.

The solar farm could be built on fields between Horndean and Rowlands Castle, off Manor Lodge Road, near the Hazelton Interchange on the A3(M).

A statement from the company said: ‘The big plus with solar power is that the photovoltaic panels, being only about 3m off the ground, with good screening and by selecting the right site, can be quite inconspicuous.

‘As one of the least intrusive forms of renewable energy and saving about 11,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year, the proposed Blendworth Resource Farm is an obvious choice for sites like this one.

‘It sits on land of low agricultural value, backing on to the A3(M) and tucked away with very limited visibility.’

Staff will be on hand to welcome residents at the exhibition and answer any questions. The exhibitions will be held at the United reformed Church Hall, Rowlands Castle from 10am to 1pm and at Merchistoun Hall, Horndean, from 2pm to 5pm.
