PORTSMOUTH Football Club has become the first club in the UK to sell its match tickets through social media.

The club is following in the footsteps of the New York Red Bulls, which pioneered the service.

To use the system, fans must first log into Facebook and then ‘like’ the club’s officialpfc Facebook page. Tickets for Pompey’s home games with Scunthorpe this Saturday and Southend on November 26 are now available to buy using the system.

Pompey’s engagement manager Micah Hall said: ‘We have an active Facebook community and we think this is a great way not only for fans to encourage other fans to attend matches, it might also attract new fans from their wider social circles.’
