TWO Portsmouth-area companies are helping to lead the country’s financial recovery, according to analysts from accountancy firm BDO.

The analysts have identified Portsmouth-based Ultimate HC and Havant’s Wessex Advanced Switching Products among 20 of the region’s best performers.

Ultimate HC is an insurance company and Wessex Advanced Switching Products makes technical products.

BDO corporate finance director Helen O’Kane said: ‘The companies in the top 20 have shown great resilience and strength and their sustained growth provides real inspiration for other mid-market companies in the region.

‘The key for any business is to get the right advice on making an in-depth evaluation of what will work for them, whether that is mergers and acquisitions or investment in research and development, recruitment of talent or expansion into international markets, and maybe a mix of several such aspects.’

Ms O’Kane said the recession prompted many businesses to better understand their core strengths.
