Portsmouth gym aims to raise cash with spinathon

FITNESS fans can get some exercise while raising money for a good cause.

A three-hour spinathon – an exercise class on stationary bikes – is taking place at Fit4Less, at Connaught Drill Hall, Stanhope Road, Portsmouth, on Tuesday, April 19.

The gym opened in January and it has been fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support.

So far it has raised £500, but assistant manager Jodi Clark said they hope this event will push their total higher.

She said: ‘All the money raised will go straight to Macmillan.’

There are 20 bikes at the gym, which will be used for three sessions during the fundraiser. Entry costs £5 per person and is open to non-members of the gym. Call (023) 9316 2650 for more information or to book.

A further fundraising Zumbathon – a dancing exercise class – will take place at Liquid & Envy Nightclub, also in Stanhope Road, on Friday, April 29.

Hundreds of people are expected at the event, which will take place from 5.15pm until 7.15pm.
