Portsmouth Morrisons will '˜beef up' forces charity's coffers with new campaign

THE founder of forces charity Walking With The Wounded visited Morrisons in Portsmouth to back the supermarket's British Beef for British Troops campaign.

In the run-up to Armed Forces Day, the campaign – which starts today – will see the Victory Retail Park shop donate 25p to the charity every time a customer buys fresh beef from its butcher counter.

David Scott, Morrisons’ head of charity and community, said: ‘Our armed forces make a huge contribution to the country and we want to say thank you. We hope that customers will get behind the British beef offer and in doing so support Walking With The Wounded.’ Veterans and serving personnel who have a Defence Privilege Card will get free tea and coffee in Morrisons cafés until the campaign ends on Sunday.

They will also get a 10 per cent discount in all cafés including the Commercial Centre and Gosport stores for the next six months.

Ed Parker, co-founder and chief executive of Walking With The Wounded was grateful of Morrisons’ support.

‘Funds raised off the back of this will make significant changes to our wounded ex-servicemen and women allowing them to regain their independence and reintegrate into society,’ he added.
