A PUB has been given its licence back after assurances were made by its owners that it will no longer be plagued by trouble.

Portsmouth City Council’s licensing sub-committee yesterday gave The Compass Rose, in Anchorage Park, the go-ahead to reopen. Enterprise Inns said it is in the process of appointing a new tenant, and that the previous manager had been evicted.

The pub’s licence was removed following a huge fight after an 18th birthday party earlier this year.
