Portsmouth's head of culture backs Butterfly House replacement programme

THE head of culture in Portsmouth said she was likely to approve plans to create a new butterfly house at a city attraction.

Councillor Linda Symes said the replacement of the butterfly house at Cumberland House Natural History Museum was long overdue. She said a contest could be set up for children to name the new butterfly home – and visitors would be given the option of putting in donations to help towards its upkeep.

Cllr Symes said: ‘We know how much this attraction is loved by everyone. Cumberland House visitor numbers are up and what we want to do is give people the chance to put in a donation.’
