Praise for care given by Gosport nursing home

A FAMILY-run nursing home has been rated '˜good' following an inspection.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has published its report on Alverstoke Nursing Home following a visit at the end of last year.

The inspector found the home, on Somervell Close, in Gosport, had enough staff to support the residents who lived in a safe and caring environment.

The report said: ‘Staffing levels provided an opportunity for staff to interact with the people they were supporting in a calm, relaxed and unhurried manner.

People were supported to maintain good health and had access to appropriate healthcare services.

‘Their records showed they had regular appointments with health professionals, such as chiropodists, opticians, dentists and GPs.

‘Staff spoke to residents with kindness and warmth and were observed laughing and joking with them. We also observed that personal care was provided in a discreet and private way.’
