The headline sponsor of this year’s Business Excellence Awards Trethowans has been a leading figure in the region’s legal sector since it was founded 150 years ago.
The firm supports thousands of businesses and individuals, providing advice and support on a wide range of legal issues.
Its reputation as one of the UK’s top 150 law firms has seen it count international and national household brands such as Ladbrokes and Pizza Hut among its clients.
But while national success has been abundant Trethowans has stayed true to its roots and works with a wealth of businesses in the Solent, offering trusted advice on everything from mergers and acquisitions to data protection, employment law and licensing, as well as offering personal advice to those individuals behind the businesses.
The law firm has Southampton, Salisbury, Poole and Winchester offices, as well as a base in London, and is increasingly working with businesses in the Portsmouth and surrounding areas.
Lucy Grey, a senior corporate lawyer, said: ‘Portsmouth has a thriving business community, with companies doing fantastic work that is doing the entire region proud.’
Trethowans employs more than 200 people and has a team of 100 lawyers, including 35 partners.
Its teams and individuals are widely recommended in several independent national directories of the top law firms in the UK.
Just this month 19 of its teams and 19 of its individual experts were named in The Legal 500, which independently assesses law firms throughout the UK.
Among the teams singled out in the Legal 500 were its corporate and commercial, finance, employment and personal injury divisions.
The family, dispute resolution and private client teams also appear on the prestigious list and Trethowans’ South West commercial property team retained its top tier status in the rankings.
Trethowans is also ranked in Chambers UK, an annual publication which lists the top lawyers in the UK based on feedback from clients and peers.
Explaining why the firm is proud to support the Business Excellence Awards Ms Grey said: ‘You only have to pick up a copy of The News and turn to the business section to see countless examples of local companies achieving great things. It’s important to recognise these achievements and come together to celebrate them.’
The News’ editor Mark Waldron said: ‘This year we welcome on board our new sponsors, Trethowans, who I am very much looking forward to working with to make sure these awards are as brilliant as ever.’
