Proposal for Bosmere Field budget hotel is submitted

CQC praises Fareham service for its caring staff

A FORMAL planning application has been put in for a controversial hotel development.

Fassett, the owners of Langstone Technology Park, in Havant, want to build a budget hotel and carvery style restaurant on Bosmere Field, which overlooks the Langstone roundabout.

The field is owned by Hampshire County Council and residents have successfully fought to stop development in the past.

However, Fassett say the hotel is vital to the Technology Park’s survival and growth in a competitive market and could created up to 100 new jobs.

If it is given the go ahead the two storey hotel will have 81 rooms and 148 parking spaces.

But, in a letter to Havant Borough Council, Emsworth Business Association has voiced strong objections.

They are particularly concerned about traffic and the effect the budget hotel will have on independent small hotels in the area.

It said: ‘The Langstone roundabout has long been a serious pinch point for the traffic travelling south of Havant.

‘Having to sit in a traffic queue caused by traffic lights and congestion is one reason not to visit Havant again.’

A decision on the application is not expected July.
