Prosecco and cupcakes to mark 200th opening

PROSECCO and cake will be handed out to celebrate the opening of the The Southern Co-operative's 200th food store.

The chain is due to open its new store at in London Road, Purbrook, Waterlooville, at 10am tomorrow.

There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by a giveaway of 200 bottles of Prosecco to the first 200 customers, 200 cupcakes, as well as a £500 donation to the Rowan’s Hospice.

Formerly known as the Portsea Island Mutual Co-operative, The Southern Co-operative opened its first food store in Charles Street, Portsmouth on May 9, 1873.
