The pub, on London Road, closed for two and a half weeks after management spent £300,000.

This year the pub underwent some personnel changes, with a new general manager starting in February.

Staff member Sam Whitbourn said: ‘I’ve been here for roughly five months and the refurbishment is a more modern improvement. It looks amazing.

‘The carpets, flooring and decor have been replaced with lots of new furniture and fixtures.

‘We’ve added two walls in the bar area, comfy leather sofas and a bookcase.

‘The lighting is also very low and slightly dimmer to create a “lounge” experience.

‘It means that people can enjoy a quiet drink away from the rest of the pub and dining area.’

The team at the Coach & Horses saw the reopening as an opportunity to build bridges with past customers.

Sam said: ‘When our new manager started we looked at past reviews online and found a few customers had been disappointed with their experiences before we took over.

‘When we reopened we hosted a VIP night, inviting these customers to see the new site and meet the new team.

‘Within two days we had 10 more five-star reviews on Trip Advisor. It was a lovely way to reconnect.’

‘It’s a great place to work. We have a new menu and we’re excited for more people to see the changes here so encourage people to stop by.’
