Purbrook Post Office reopened on Saturday at Southern Co-op’s convenience store at 31 London Road. The branch had been closed since a One Stop store where it had been based closed in February.

Post Office services are at one of the existing counters where customers can buy food while posting letters or collecting online shopping.

The branch is open for the majority of the store’s opening hours; Monday to Sunday, 7am to 10pm. There are a total of 105 hours of Post Office service a week.

Mike Ball, Post Office multiples account executive, said: ‘We are delighted to have restored a Post Office to Purbrook. The branch is also open longer hours than before. We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are.’

Bev Wyatt, Southern Co-op’s Post Office relationship manager, said: ‘We hope our customers will find it a step forward as they can now think about their posting needs whenever they pop in for their milk or other food.’
