PRAISE was given to all the entrants by the awards’ headline sponsor, BAE Systems.

James Davis, director of naval base services for BAE Systems, which has sponsored the awards for the past four years, said the firm was committed to making ‘a positive difference to the fabric of the city and to support the development and growth of the region’, while acknowledging its decision to withdraw shipbuilding from Portsmouth.

He added: ‘It is always a wonderful opportunity to recognise the talent, innovation and sheer hard work that exists in Portsmouth’s business community.

‘The diversity and quality of the nomination demonstrates the highly dynamic and entrepreneurial nature of the professional business community.

‘BAE Systems is proud to be associated with The News’ Business Excellence Awards, and it has been great to see this event go from strength to strength.

The standard of entries has, once again, been extremely high and I know the judging panel had a very challenging task selecting the winners.’
