PEOPLE have been queuing outside a toy shop eager to purchase some of the new Star Wars toys.
Eager fans have been hotly anticipating the new range of merchandise that ties into the new Star Wars film, The Force Awakens, with today offering a first glimpse into the offerings of the latest installment of the popular series.
The demand was so huge that some stores opened earlier than planned to deal with queuing customers.
Toys R Us, of Burrfields Road Portsmouth, opened 20 minutes earlier than usual.
Duty Manager Jenny Brown said: ‘We had to open early as the queue was running down the entire length of the store outside.
‘The range has been really popular and customers are really loving the lego.’
The hype over the release of the toys even led to a worldwide 18 hour marathon event run by Disney to give fans a sneek peek into the range.
Live feeds from 12 countries showed the unboxing of the toys on Youtube before the toys were available for sale at midnight. Fans even dubbed the event #ForceFriday on Twitter which has been trending since the release of the
Items in the range include an Interactive Talking R2D2, a Captain Phasma Voice Changing Mask and a Force Awakens Lightsaber.
Star Wars, The Force Awakens, will be in cinemas in December this year.
