Residents and staff at Fareham care home enjoy tea party

STAFF and residents of a care home enjoyed their very own Mad Hatters tea party.

The Fernes, in Fareham, invited residents' families along too to enjoy the Alice in Wonderland-themed event.

The day had music from singer Lacey-Love who dressed as the Mad Hatter, pin the grin on the Cheshire cat, a tea cup balancing game, tea and coffee and home-made cakes and sweet treats.

Prizes were given to the winners of the different games while staff got into the spirit and dressed as the characters from the book and residents were given props to wear.

Sarah Davies, general manager at the home run by Barchester Healthcare, said: '˜Staff at The Fernes are dedicated to making sure that the home is a hub of the community.

'˜This event, along with all their hard work, has definitely paid off. It was a resounding success,'

The Fernes provides residential and dementia care for 52 residents from respite care to long-term stays.
