Lee-on-the-Solent mobility retailer Solent Mobility is celebrating its eighth year with a tea party in aid of a charity in Titchfield.
Solent Mobility, on the High Street, is holding a Big Tea Cosy event today from 11am-4pm. All the proceeds will be donated to The Wessex Haven Breast Cancer Support Centre.
The Big Tea Cosy fundraising campaign for the charity takes place across the area this week, where people are encouraged to host their own tea party to raise much- needed funds for the charity.
Staff at Solent Mobility will be serving tea and cakes, and selling raffle tickets for a hamper plus ‘guess the number of sweets in the jar’.
Debbie Watts, director at Solent Mobility, said: ‘When I heard about the Big Tea Cosy idea at a recent networking event I attended, I thought it would be a great way for us to celebrate our birthday plus raise funds for a worthy cause.
‘We were delighted too that the mayor and his wife would be able to join us. They are extremely supportive of the events we hold at the shop and enjoy chatting with our customers.
‘The tea party marks the beginning of a very exciting week for us – our eighth birthday plus we have been shortlisted for three awards in the News’ Business Excellence Awards, which will be held on Friday.’
Sally Hillyear, fundraising manager for The Wessex Haven, added: ‘We are so grateful to Solent Mobility, it’s wonderful that they have chosen to support the Big Tea Cosy Event as part of their eighth birthday celebrations.
‘The Haven has only recently opened in Titchfield and offers much-needed support to breast cancer sufferers through complementary therapies.
‘We give each visitor 10 free sessions as well as free counselling to friends and family. There is still time to contact us for your fundraising pack and get your own Big Tea Cosy Event organised.
