PLANNERS have supported a new supermarket being built in Bishop’s Waltham.
Officers at Winchester City Council today announced it was recommending councillors should give the go ahead to a Sainsbury’s superstore and a doctors’ surgery.
Next week, councillors will make a final decision on the plans to build a store on the old Abbey Mill site in the town.
A petition holding 4,500 signatures was handed into the council last year.
Meanwhile, a group supporting the plans was also formed, and around 5,000 letters of support have since been handed into the council.
Councillors will decide on the plans at a meeting at Winchester Guildhall on Thursday, April 7 at 2pm.
