Mike Hancock said: ‘There are some absolutely fantastic manufacturers in Portsmouth South and Southsea who produce great products for export around the world.

‘This is a fantastic opportunity to get a product recognised, to raise the profile of their business and to show the hard work of all of their employees in manufacturing and exporting their product around the world.’

Exported by Britain is a campaign jointly run by the All-Party Parliamentary Manufacturing Group and the all-Party Parliamentary Design and Innovation Group.

Both groups are looking to expand from the success of their previous project – Made in Britain – which asked MPs to nominate an object or product manufactured in their constituencies.

It attracted over 300 nominations including those from the Prime Minister and the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

The campaign has been supported by Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable. Speaking at the launch of the project in Westminster, he said that the nominations profiled are ‘absolutely fundamental to getting export success’.

‘It’s not often that parliamentarians manage to engage in this kind of way with significant segments of British business…It’s a great platform for displaying the great things of manufacturing,’ he said.

Mr Hancock is now seeking nominations and wants to know which export deserves to be put forward and why..
