PAY in the manufacturing sector has increased slightly, new research has found.

EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, and JAM Recruitment say the figures show the sector is making a gradual return to the normal long term average last seen before the 2008/9 recession.

According to a survey of 200 companies, the average pay for the three months to the end of April was 2.8 per cent, up from 2.6 per cent for the previous three months.
