Shock as '˜pill' is discovered in takeaway

She was enjoying a takeaway last Sunday evening when she made the discovery.

The 57-year-old said: ‘I thought it was a piece of bone or something. Then I had a funny taste in my mouth and my tongue was tingling.

‘My mouth went numb and I pulled it out, then I saw it looked like a pill.’

Susan said she was in shock so she immediately rang the police, who then called an ambulance for her, which arrived within minutes at their house in the Fareham area. She said: ‘By this time I was really struggling, I couldn’t speak. It was very scary.’

Phill, who had called for a selection of dishes from a takeaway, before he went to collect them, said: ‘I didn’t know what to do.

‘I had never come across anything like this before. All I could do was be there for her.’

Phill, who is Susan’s carer, added: ‘We have been using that place for 30 years and never had a problem. Now I want to see an investigation.’

Susan, who is a mum-of two and a grandmother-of-two, said: ‘I’m registered disabled so I am careful with all medication and everything else.’

Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service arrived shortly after 8.30pm and treated her at the scene.

Police attended the house and they reported the incident to the council’s environmental health department, which has since launched an investigation.

Phill and Susan, who are in the process of moving into the house and the area permanently from Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, are calling for urgent action to be taken and a police spokesman said they were looking into the incident and deciding whether it was a criminal matter, health and safety or an issue for Trading Standards.

The round white ‘pill’ is currently with Environmental Health while an investigation takes place.

A manageress, who did not wish to be named, at the takeaway said she was aware of the complaint and that they had no comment to add while the investigation was taking place.
