VINTAGE lovers and keen newbies were in their element at a Boutique Market.

More than 200 people visited the event in the New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth, packed with vintage jewellery and clothes stalls.

There was also a fashion show put together by local designer Naomi Gibbs, and performances from vintage-style acts including FB Pocket Orchestra and Natalie Gunn.

One of the organisers, Laura Doye, who is the theatre’s creative producer, said: ‘There was a great mix of people there, from people who are really into vintage to people who were coming into it for the first time and just wanted to buy something.

‘And there were people there who came in off the streets because they could hear the live music, which was great.

‘It felt like a mini Goodwood event with the live music and the shopping, and that’s exactly what we were going for so we’re happy that it all worked out.’

There was also a cocktail bar at the event on Thursday evening s and a DJ who played a number of old songs on vinyl.

Another two similar events will take place in the theatre. The first is on November 15 and a second on December 15 and will have a Christmas theme.

The vintage market table top sale also takes place on the first Saturday of the month at Little Johnny Russells, Albert Road, Southsea, from midday to 4.30pm.
