SIX Clinton Cards branches in the area have been saved after they were sold to an American greeting card firm.

Shops in Commercial Road, Portsmouth, Gunwharf Quays, Havant, Bognor, Chichester and Petersfield have been bought by Lakeshore Lending Limited, a subsidiary of American Greetings.

A total of 397 stores across the country have been sold in the deal, which comes a month after Clinton Cards was placed into administration.

However, the shop at Fareham is one of many outlets that are still at risk of closure while administrator Zolfo Cooper seeks a buyer.

Peter Saville, joint administrator, said: ‘We would like to thank the staff for their dedication and patience throughout what has been an understandably difficult time for all concerned.’
