A TAX expert is hosting a free business clinic as part of a national campaign to get behind small business.

James Self, who runs TaxAssist Accountants in London Road, Portsmouth, is organising the clinic which will take place on Friday from 1pm to 5pm.

Mr Self said the clinic was one of many Small Business Saturday events happening across the country.

He said: ‘We’re delighted to be supporting Small Business Saturday and the local business community with these free advice clinics which aim to offer practical, jargon-free advice.

‘We’ve been well supported by businesses across Portsmouth, so it is great to be able to give something back.’

The clinic will cover topics including tax, VAT, gifting to staff, the tax return deadline and tax bills.

Last year’s Small Business Saturday saw 16.5m people shop in a small business – an increase of 20 per cent on the previous year’s event.
