SMOKE billowed from a high street store after it’s thought an anti-theft device was set off.

Police and shop staff arrived at the CEX store in West Street, Fareham, after the burglar alarm was set off and smoke, believed to be from an anti-theft cloak, filled the store.

One passer-by, who saw the smoke while walking home from work, said: ‘There was a plume of smoking coming out from under the shutter, with the burglar alarm going off.

‘Police and staff turned up shortly after to find the smoke hood had been activated.’
