PERSONAL injury specialists at Portsmouth law firm Verisona are supporting a new national advertising campaign by the Law Society promoting the need for professional advice.

Members of the public who find themselves in a position to make a personal injury claim are being encouraged by the professional body of the legal profession in England and Wales to get in touch with their local solicitors.

‘The key message of the campaign is to urge consumers to refrain from just accepting the first offer of compensation from insurers,’ said Nigel Cole, head of personal injury at Verisona.

‘The Law Society is promoting research uncovered from the Financial Services Authority which has revealed personal injury claimants who turn down an insurer’s initial offer and take legal advice from a solicitor get on average three times more compensation.

‘There are many negative preconceptions about our area of law, but it is about ensuring that people who have suffered genuine misfortune are able to have the resources they need to move on with their lives.’
