Solicitors give out free will advice for charity

LAW firm Large & Gibson helped a national children's charity commemorate its 150th anniversary by taking part in nationwide initiative.

Large & Gibson, in Southsea, provided free sessions to customers from across Portsmouth, who were aged over 55, to answer their questions around the process of drawing up a will.

The sessions were designed to break the taboo that exists around wills, on the back of the firm’s research that found 70 per cent of UK adults aged over 50 don’t have a valid one.

Large & Gibson is part of the QualitySolicitors group, which has chosen Barnado’s as its official charity partner since 2010. The firm hoped those receiving free legal expertise might consider leaving a legacy to Barnardo’s alongside loved ones when writing their wills.

Rachel Harvey, office manager, said: ‘The people of Portsmouth really took to the initiative.

‘The objective of our sessions was to highlight how important it is to keep affairs in order and we are pleased that so many people locally have come to us for advice on what is still for many, a difficult topic to discuss.

‘We’d like to thank all those who attended the sessions in Portsmouth and included Barnardo’s in their will.’
