Special measures for '˜inadequate' Fareham care home

A NURSING home has been placed in special measures as the Care Quality Commission found it to be '˜inadequate.'

The CQC released 170 reports on care provided by adult social care services across the south of England yesterday.

It said an unannounced inspection found that Merry Hall Nursing & Residential Care Home in Fareham had failed on a number of issues, including not reporting serious injuries, and said its patients were not always treated with dignity and respect.

The home, which is one of 11 run by Buckwell Care Ltd, will be inspected again within six months.

The CQC rated 71 care homes and agencies as good, 37 required improvement, 10 were inadequate and one service was rated outstanding.

St Vincent House in Gosport required improvement. Full reports are at cqc.org.uk.
