PSP Logistics, based in Fareham, has its name plastered across one of the contestants in this year’s Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.

The team’s boat is currently out in first place, with the teams racing towards China in the seventh race on the calendar.

But according to managing director Frank Dixie, the boat race has also created some new business opportunities, placing his company in the global spotlight.

He said: ‘We had a boat in last year’s race but didn’t do so well.

‘We finished last, in fact.

‘But the race opens up so many opportunities that it is too good to pass up.

‘We have done the boat show in Southampton for the past seven years, which has been great, but to do something like the Clipper Boat Race is a great way to establish the brand on a global scale.

‘In a few days’ time, Jo Dixie and myself will be travelling out to Hong Kong where we can meet new clients and push our brand, as well as celebrate the team’s incredible achievements.

‘We always go out to the stopping points – it is great to catch up with the teams and potentially find new clients as well.’

The idea of getting involved with the Clipper Boat Race has been an attractive one for PSP Logistics for nearly 10 years.

Mr Dixie said: ‘We have been involved in the Clipper Boat Race in one way or another for almost a decade now.

‘The race is something I have been interested in for some time because the people who enter it come from all walks of life, getting together for a life-changing experience – it is something that I really respect.

‘These people are taking part for all sorts of reasons, and are sailing on these beautiful boats at the same time.’

Frank believes that the team has a good chance of placing well overall in this year’s race.

He said: ‘There are some very good teams in the Clipper Boat Race, but I think we stand a fairly good chance of at least placing in the top three.’
