Staff from Waterlooville firm help with restoration of Havant park

STAFF gave up their time to help with the restoration of a country park.

Community First, based in Havant, welcomed employees from CIA Alarms to Staunton Country Park to spend the day working alongside volunteers.

The organisation, which put on the day as part of its Employee Volunteering Scheme, is keen to support Staunton's three-year transformation programme funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Liza Smith, volunteer co-ordinator at Staunton, welcomed the work by staff at CIA Alarms, in Waterlooville.

She said: '˜We were delighted to host CIA Alarms working alongside our regular volunteers. They were involved in coppicing an area of woodland to encourage the growth of new plants and let sunlight in.

'˜Coppicing is important as it encourages a healthy and varied biodiversity.

'˜The involvement of volunteers is vital to the long-term success of this project.'

One employee from CIA Alarms said the team liked working on the park. She added: '˜This is our first event in conjunction with Community First and we have thoroughly enjoyed it.

'˜We would encourage volunteers to help, as this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what needs undertaking.'
