A chocolate fountain, lent by Fareham Community Church, was the main attraction, where shoppers could dip pieces of fruit into the Fairtrade chocolate.

Fareham’s mayor and mayoress, Cllr Mike Ford and Anne Ford, also attended the event to show their support as did Fareham MP Suella Fernandes.

Cllr Ford said: ‘It was a very good day, Fareham is a Fairtrade borough and publicising the need to give a fair price to the producers is important.’

Chef and award-winning chocolatier David Greenwood-Haigh was on hand to give hints on tasting chocolate and demonstrated how to make a ganache sauce using Fairtrade chocolate.

Chairwoman of Fareham Borough Fairtrade Group, which organised the day, Rachel Hicks, said: ‘It was great to talk to people who already support Fairtrade and also inform those who wanted to know more about it.’
