MORE than a week has passed since The News’ Local Business Accelerator competition launched – and there is still time to enter.

The competition, open to businesses in Portsmouth and south-east Hampshire, gives small firms a chance to win advertising and mentoring from Fareham-based Mentor-net.

Waterlooville business efficiency company BEA Solutions won the support last year.

Marc Bradshaw, the firm’s owner, said: ‘The Local Business Accelerator programme has been a great help to our business.

‘The articles in The News about us being shortlisted, and then winning locally, were widely seen and numerous customers and contacts commented on them.

‘The mentoring we’ve received has been incredibly valuable and has helped us to get a better handle on how our business is going, so that we can target our efforts appropriately to maximise our opportunity to grow.

‘Overall, the programme has been enormously beneficial to our business, and we’re really glad we entered.’

To enter, email business reporter Claire French at, with the following information by Thursday, September 30:

- Name of company

- Number of employees

- Date of company launch (business must be between one and five years old)

- Why your business would benefit from free advertising and mentoring (no more than 300 words)
