THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised for wounded ex-service personnel by a store in Portsmouth.
Debenhams in Commercial Road raised more than £3,000 for the charity Help for Heroes, making the store one of the top fundraising shops in the country.
The fundraising period ran through March, with a specific focus on a national collection weekend on the weekend of March 21 and 22.
Help for Heroes volunteers were in stores across the country that weekend to raise awareness of the work that the charity carries out with those that have been wounded serving in the armed forces.
Debenhams Portsmouth store manager Adam Mills said: ‘We’re proud of the charity fundraising from the team for Help for Heroes, along with the additional charity initiatives throughout the years that Debenhams is associated with.
‘The substantial amount raised by the store will help to continually care for our wounded servicemen and women and support their nearest and dearest.’
