Budget-conscious students will be able to enjoy a special event which will offer discounts to University of Portsmouth undergraduates.
The event is hosted by Cascades Shopping Centre and it will close its stores at the normal time of 6pm and they will then reopen at 6.30pm exclusively for students.
Many of the stores in the centre will feature special offers, with plenty of discounts available for the students.
The organisers also aim to create a fun and vibrant atmosphere by having a live DJ blasting out music during the two and a half hour shopping session.
Journalism student Alex Bee, who is the former fashion editor of the student newspaper The Galleon, said many of her fellow fashion-conscious students should really take advantage of this event.
The 21-year-old from Somerset said: ‘I think students in Portsmouth might be more conservative than in places like London or Bristol. But they definitely have their own style which the retailers are looking to cash-in on.
‘I’m looking forward to it all as I like to hit the high street just as much as the independent stores.
‘The Cascades has stores like Lush, which a lot of students like for its natural ethos.’
The Shop-In has been welcomed by centre director, Rhoda Joseph who said after last year’s event, they are looking forward to welcoming more students this year.
Rhoda said: ‘There are more than 22,000 students in and around Portsmouth.
‘So it is a really important market for us and early evening events like this work really well.
‘This is the third year we have run the event and it’s just growing and getting better and better each time.’
Deputy manager at Dorothy Perkins, in the Cascades, Claire Rackham, said students in the city are some of the most fashion conscious she has seen during her career in retail.
The event will take place on the evening of Tuesday, September 22, at 6.30pm.
Students are urged to register for the event via cascades-shopping.co.uk/student-shop-in-registration.
