Student receives grant for transport project
L3 ASV, based in Portchester, is collaborating with Alex Raymond from the University of Cambridge on the technology which seeks to use existing vehicle communications methods such as radios and could improve the safety and costs of marine transport.
Alex has received an Industrial Fellowship of £80,000 from the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 to fund the project.

Hide AdThe Commission was established by Prince Albert to help fund British science and technology and bring new inventions to commercialisation
Chairman Bernard Taylor said: '˜It is critical that the young scientists and engineers that form the future innovation landscape of Britain are supported in their efforts.
'˜Our Industrial Fellowships provide funding to the most promising technologies that will enrich British industry, and allow the research to be directed towards commercialisation from the start.'
