Portsmouth International Port held the show, which featured 30 photographs, in its passenger terminal.

The pictures were taken by Highbury College students for a ‘Portsmouth and Me’ exhibit, highlighting life in the city.

Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Councillor Ken Ellcome opened the exhibition.

Special guests attended the event, which is part of the #PortsmouthTakesYouThere marketing campaign.

The drive was launched earlier this year to show-off Portsmouth as a destination, showcasing sites that passengers can enjoy as they travel through the island.

Jamie Connolly-Burnett, a 22-year-old student from Gosport, said: ‘It’s really exciting to be part of this exhibition because you know that everybody that comes in the building will see your work.

‘It’s nice to be able to show off my work and get recognition for what I can do.

‘I like finding unusual things and showing off the area I have lived most of my life.’

This is the second time that Highbury College students have been involved in an exhibition at the port.

Students contributed to an exhibit which marked the port’s 40th anniversary last year.

Richard Blair, educational trainer at Highbury College, said: ‘Portsmouth is in the DNA of these students, and they’ve spent the summer selecting the sights that mean most to them.

‘The results are impressive, and the light and airy passenger terminal is the perfect place to display their talented take on our wonderful city.’

The exhibition opened on November 15 and will run until the new year.
