FORMER Remploy staff have been learning new skills since losing their jobs.
Learning Links Ltd has been providing a job and social club for a group of nine ex-Remploy employees following the closure of the Remploy Portsmouth factory since August 2013.
The staff affected by the factory’s closure have, for the past 18 months, maintained contact with each other meeting on a weekly basis through the Connect Club.
They have developed new skills by taking part in a range of activities from baking to bowling and have much more confidence in looking for employment.
Leah Clifton, a tutor, said: ‘The ex-Remploy staff are such a lovely group of individuals who have the energy and willingness to try new things.
‘It’s been a very productive 18 months and I have enjoyed being part of their journey.’
A celebration event is on January 28, at 12.30pm.
