Take six simple steps to become a foster carer with Rainbow Fostering and you could change a child's life

Perhaps you didn’t know, but foster carers come from all kinds of backgrounds: single people, couples (married, or living together), same-sex couples, families - with or without children. And people of all ethnicities and cultural backgrounds.

The one basic thing they will have in common is having a spare room for a child. But that’s only the start!

They also all have a wealth of passion and commitment to do the best they can for the children and young people they care for.

But right now there is a shortage of more than 8,000 foster families, meaning many children face a bleak future: one without stability, or without anyone fighting their corner. That’s a very lonely place to be.

Especially as many will have been neglected or suffered abuse of one sort or another. Every day our Rainbow foster carers give such children a new start. They can do this because the training we provide is second to none. And the support we provide is outstanding – always there24/7, 365 days a year.

We are now looking for some very special people to join our team. Maybe someone just like you looking for a career that’s flexible with real opportunities to develop their skills - as well as finding new ones. Above all, anyone wanting to foster must be ambitious for the child or young person they are caring for.

If you already have professional experience working with children or young people, you could consider training to be a therapeutic foster carer. This involves being part of a team helping children with more challenging behaviour to settle and recover. And it means you’d qualify forenhanced payment rates - up to £700 per week.

Alternatively, train to care for sibling groups and keep a family together. Or make your home a place of safety and security for a teenager so they can; with your support, do well at school and hopefully go on to higher education.
