Team celebrates raising more than £24k for charity

Wilkins Kennedy enlisted help from its four offices in Portsmouth, Southampton, Winchester and Romsey to help raise funds for Naomi House & Jacksplace.

The charity provides hospice care to life-limited and life-threatened children, young people and their families living across the south.

Seven teams from the accountancy firm have managed to raise £24,235.50 for the organisation.

Most of the money was raised through the charity’s ‘Store Wars’ campaign, a competition which saw each office competing against each other.

Staff organised Mad Hatter’s tea parties, retro sweet shops and nail painting sessions.

For their final task, staff took over a Naomi House charity shop for the day. The campaign raised £12,855.

Last October, staff members completed the Three Peaks Challenge to raise a further £3,584.25.

Employee Paul Hopper managed to raise £7,796.25 individually by completing a series of challenges, including the Great South Run.

Paul said: ‘We faced adverse weather conditions and extremely sore feet after Three Peaks, but there was a positive, upbeat attitude throughout and it was all worth it for Naomi House and Jacksplace.

‘I have visited the hospice, as have many of the team, and it’s a truly inspiring place.’

Jill McDonagh, from Naomi House, said: ‘This money will pay for one whole day at the hospice, providing care and support to children and their families.

‘We care for more than 440 children and young people and aim to provide care for as long as a family needs.

‘It can only continue thanks to the contributions and donations from businesses and the public – so thank you!’
